thanks!

I've never tried the vinegar (though many here have so maybe one of them can step in and help me out) but I think you are supposed to use Apple Cider Vinegar. And here is a link that one of the members put up a while back. It gives the ratio (1 teaspoon per quart of water) and a list of some benefits and what not. Hope this is helpful Very Happy . Oh and I think Walmart actually sells this brand (@least mine does) so if you shop there you might want to check it out if not you can probably find it at a healthfood store.

Link?

I was wondering, is the vinegar for the staining or for the eye watering? because my babies face is soaked all the time.

Oops Embarassed can you tell I was going on only 3 hours of sleep yesterday lol. Here is the link http://www.lilpoodles.com/puppy_care.iml#vinegar . I think it only helps with the staining but then again I don't know for sure. Tearing can be caused by several things. Teething, hair irritating the eye, allergies, blocked or small tear ducts are just a few. Your puppy is still young (and super adorable btw) and if you're keeping her the hair around the eye tidy I would think its most likely from teething. My little boy had tons of tearing when he was a teething (his ears even stood up) but as he got older it has greatly reduced. You can also ask the vet to check for blocked ducts if you are concerned. I actually bought some of ACV today and was skeptic on whether or not they would drink it. I fixed up a batch and they haven't noticed yet. I'll tell you if I see a difference. Best of luck with your new baby.

Ah ha I think we have all been on the barely any-to no sleep train Laughing

I do not think she is teething yet (12 weeks) I will be sure to clip her hair away from her eyes just to be sure.

I need to find a good vet... the ones around here are not very good with diagnosis... Confused

Let me know how the ACV goes! Xiao is very sensitive to changes... she takes a while to take new foods, water ect. I tried giving her bottled water... she did not like it.

And thank you, she is a cutie and my little love puff

Acv is defenitly the way I have heard, I have since read good reports using Balsamic. The flying ears while teething is something to see. So funny.
12 weeks still could be teething.

Balsamic Vinegar is good for people and dogs to stay healthy, however, I gave it try with my girls and it didn't do a thing for the staining under their eyes. I give them the Balsamic Vinegar because it is good for their health but for staining around the eyes, I use Angel Eye.

I'm glad you caught that Kat. It was a link that one of the members had posted way back and the only one I knew that had the water/vinegar ratio so I linked it, sorry about that. Like I said I'm kind of new when it comes to the vinegar. I used to just give Pip Tylan. And even though I never had any problems with it (it worked almost immediately and the only concerns I found was risk of immunity to antibiotics and showing higher levels of something on blood tests) I just wanted to go a more natural route. I was down to giving him very small doses about 4-6 times a month but then after an unrelated scare (reaction to rabies vaccine) I decided that I would try to keep the area clean and dry as much as I could. And it seems like I'm fighting a losing battle especially since they are licking each others faces every time I turn my back lol. Xiao is lucky to have such an attentive parent Wink . I wish you the best with finding the right vet. It's almost harder then finding the right kind of human doctor Laughing Also there is a lot of info on the internet (including this forum) concerning tear stains. Like using stainless steel bowls and making sure her food doesn't contain beet pulp to prevent the stains.

I am like that about everything... I always read between the lines, the fine print below and around them Laughing

Thank you, I love her to bits!

I have been lurking around here long before I got Xiao, reading all the old threads and such. It has been so helpful!

I feel the same as you about the Tylan... I hear great things about it, but really hate the thought of having my baby on antibiotics for... EVER Shocked

I also prefer the natural route. I have been raw feeding my dogs for quite a while, I have not started Xiao on raw yet, but plan to very soon. Who knows... maybe that will help with the stains!

I feel like a thread thief. Embarassed
