I know that Duke wasn't a poodle, but he was so special in our family-he was such a sweetl boy. It's with a very heavy heart that I write to let you know that he went to the Rainbow bridge this afternoon. He was finally diagnosed with an aggressive melanoma and he was declining rapidly. The vet said he could give him prednisone to make him more comfortable for a little while, but the outcome would be the same. We decided to think of him first, instead of us, which was so hard to do. My husband and I both went to the vet to say goodbye to him this afternoon. Run free, Duke! We love you!

I am so sorry for your loss. I am actually sitting here in tears -we also have a brindle Boxer and an apricot poodle! They play just like yours in that picture. My Boxer is so gentle with her even though she can be snappy at him. Boxers are so loyal and loving. I am so sorry you had to say good-bye to Duke. You were very unselfish and you did the right thing. I am sorry your heart is so heavy. RIP Duke! You will be missed.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Fonzie's missing his playmate, for sure. Thank goodness we still have our elderly lab, so at least he still has some company.

Everyday gets a little easier, but we'll never forget our sweet boy, Duke. He was one in a million.
